More people are investing in domain names…

Quote:  “”I was at a dinner party the other night when a friend started asking me if I knew anything about domaining. Here was a guy that works in a “real job” and knows nothing about Internet marketing, but he told me that he registered 10 domain names and had listed them on Sedo. When did mainstream folks start speculating in domain names? In any case, I was impressed that he managed to do what he did, even though he hasn’t yet made any money at it.”"

***FS*** Love reading slice of life stuff like this on other blogs because it gives a real temperature of the potential of the market and an indication of future name market direction.

Funny to hear. When we were at DomainFocus London, we went to a pub on the Strand and had a small aftershow party sponsored by Sedo. So there was some sedo advertisement in our private area and I was talking to two of Sedo’s UK staff. All of a sudden this 40-something year old US couple (that was just randomly having drinks in this pub, not associated with the show) walked up to us telling us they were on a trip through Europe and were pleasantly surprised to see some domainfolks here as they had just registered a few hundred domains at godaddy before leaving for the trip. They had some seriously funny (brandable) domains which unfortunately I don’t remember anymore. Just shows that godaddy’s superbowl ads pay of and random folks start registering domains!

Plus with the US residential real estate market in the toilet, it seems more attractive to buy a few hundred domain names rather than remodeling the kitchen!
